Fundraising and Donor Relations Internship

The Sara Omi Foundation is looking for an intern for the fourth quarter of 2026 to support donor relations, fundraising strategy and impact reporting as we scale our crowdfunding campaign and prepare for our next staged funding round.

About us

The Sara Omi Foundation is building a new model of indigenous economic empowerment, led by Sara Omi, Panama's first Emberá woman lawyer and a Central American leader recognized by Forbes. We work with a startup approach (short sprints, staged funding and transparent reporting) to accelerate indigenous-owned brands, document ancestral traditions and build community infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Support the launch of our Q4 crowdfunding campaign, including donor outreach and campaign tracking
• Help maintain donor communications and CRM records (Mailchimp, Donorbox)
• Assist in preparing quarterly impact reports for the board and for staged funding reviews
• Research and profile prospective donors, foundations and seed/angel investors
• Support the creation of materials for our early investor group, including impact metrics and giving tiers
• Work directly with our Director of Strategy and the Board on fundraising priorities

Who you are

• Experience or demonstrable skills in fundraising, donor relations, institutional development or related areas
• Interested in nonprofit strategy, fundraising or philanthropy
• Strong written communication skills and comfortable with donor-facing correspondence
• Organized, detail-oriented and comfortable working with data and reporting tools
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus, not a requirement
• If you are enrolled in an educational program, the internship can be validated for academic credit

Duration: 3 months (Q4 2026: October – December)

‍Compensation: Unpaid, with the possibility of future employment

‍Location: Remote and on-site, with a preference for candidates available to cover events in Panama
